New Horns

I've never liked the "beep beep" horns provided on most motorcycles (and modern cars), so I've just installed a pair of Fiamm Freeway Blasters, Hi and Lo tone. I'm old enough to remember what my 1955 Pontiac sounded like, and these are a good imitation. The installation was easy,and they fit beautifully under the fairing, on the mounting location of the standard horns. The stock horn is attached by two bolts, the replacement with one. I used one of the unused bolts to mount a relay, which I "painted" with liquid electrical tape for moisture protection. Wiring was simplified as the control wiring is already there. All that was needed was a wire between the horns, and a fused connection to the battery. The best part was the price, twenty one dollars and change each. (Canadian Tire).

Those are what I put on my XII a few years ago. I guess I must be younger than you because I thought they sounded like a 1970s Buick. They work real well and got some attention when needed.

Some days I feel older than Adam, but the car was almost as old as me at the time, and now that the snow is gone I'm feeling younger by the day.

I have horns off of a Buick on mine. I work at a Buick dealership and I figure if I have to battle grandma in her Buick out there, I should at least sound like her.

I once looked at a forsale V12 with no lower fairings. Owner said install of aux horns had fractured the fairing panels with all the vibration & horn pushing against panel. When i installed my new horns, I dremeled off the outer 3/8" of the flared edge of the horns just in case.

That would not be cool. Of course it would be cooler on the legs.

The Freeway Blasters (sounds like an old Buick) can be installed where they won't hit or touch the lower fairings.

Mine fitted nicely. They didn't come close to the fairing. I seem to be the only person not referring to Buicks, but my old Pontiac sounded a lot more authoritative than my present Buick.
