I have a converter module that was on the bike when I bought it. It is about 1 inch square and uses surface mount components. No visible mfr markings. Wires from left to right are black, white, white, yellow, red. Board is about 1 inch square.
The two white wires have come loose and I do not know where they were connected. Found a generic diagram that would seem to indicate white is ground but it does not mention 2 white wires. They both have tape residue on them but do not appear to have been twisted together (less than 1/8 inch bare on each tinned lead). Still looking to see where they pulled out of but hoping someone may have an adapter like this and know for sure what is what.
Edit 1:
Forgot to note the symptoms: no tail lights at all on bike or trailer. Brake lights are fine.
Edit 2:
Found that twisting the 2 white wires together got tail lights back on bike. Have not checked trailer connector yet. Also found empty spade connector going to what appears to be white/orange wire that is hot with key on. 'Almost' plugged white wires into there but decided not too once I found no or low voltage on white wires and full 12v on wht/org! Might have turned converter into crispy critter!! Thinking that connector may just be covering a tap previous owner made for some other reason as it appears to continue on from front to rear of bike.
Edit 3:
Guess twisting the 2 white wires together actually had no effect. After I saw the tail lights working, I wrapped the wires up in that protective cover and quit for the day. Went out the next day to ride and was going to admire my handy work (working tail lights for first time in quite a while) and, yep, you guessed it! No workie! I must have got whatever is not making good contact to do so until I bundled everything back up. Will go back at it again, hopefully tomorrow evening. Still would like to know what those two white wires are for though!
TIA
Ohio Mike

Re: Need Trailer Light Module Wiring Help
On my Hoppy brand converter, it's got standard 4 wire colors: W= ground, R=brake, Grn= right,Y= left, & Brown is tail. It looks like your black wire is common with the lefthand white wire and that red is common with yellow, and the center white wire is separate from the others. There should be some going-into-it wires and some coming-out-of-it wires, shouldn't there?
