Moving Trunk For More Passager Room
Has anyone tried to move the trunk back a couple of inches in order to give the passenger more room? I know Kuryakyn has a movable rack for a Harley but I have not seen one for any other bike and can't afford to buy the Harley one just to see if it works.

yes, quite a few here use trunk extenders made by marvellas (marvellas.com.) About $45. Adds several inches for the passenger.

The trunk extenders work on the 1700 model?

You can't move the trunk on the Voyager 1700 unless you want to give up the chrome plastic trim on the bike. You can remove the vibration offsets for the passenger backrest for a little more room. Otherwise, maybe some diet and exercise?

Re: Moving Trunk For More Passager Room
Been thinking about this, Our trike (a Voyager 1700) has a Corbin custom made seat with rider backrest, and seat room between the rider-passenger is an issue. So, I have an idea:David (N. 1. Purchase 2 pair of heavy duty drawer guides (The ball bearing type)from Home Depot or Lowes.
2. Remove trunk, underneath you will find a tubular rack that the trunk is mounted to.
3. Mount 1/2 half of the ball bearing drawer slides to this rack with bolts and nuts.
4. Turn trunk over and mount other half of drawer slides to bottom of trunk.
5. Slide trunk onto mounted drawer slides, adjust to fit.
Am not sure if the chrome trunk trim is attached to the bike frame, or the trunk, but if it is attached to the bike, why couldn't it be re-attached to the trunk instead? It's plastic, and doesn't support anything, it just looks pretty.
To prevent the trunk from sliding off the bike, (A really bad thing!) adjust distance to fit, then drill down thru the trunk, through the drawer slides, and insert a bolt/nut through both slides to prevent movement. Several holes could be pre-drilled through the slides to make it all adjustable at a future date.
Total cost - maybe $50.00
By the way, Kuryakyn already has a form of this commercially available for Harley Davidson motorcycles, check it out.
