AVA Board Members Touring the Southern U. S. A.

Post by HMB Don »

Trisha and I will be leaving home this Friday April 4, for the start of a Retirement Motorcycle Trip for Trisha who retired in March.

First is a NorCal Voyagers Club, Spring Flower Ride. On Monday we'll be in Phoenix, AZ, hoping to visit with Enchanted Voyagers, we'll be following the I10 corridor. With stops in El Paso, TX, Austin, TX for the Moto GP races, and Houston, TX yes hoping to visit with Lone Star Voyagers.

Part 2 will be eastward to Cocoa Beach, FL, when we hope to have lunch with Carl and some Sunshine State Voyagers. Then up to the Carolinas with a stop in High Point, NC.

Part 3 will be the return home on the I40 corridor, with stops in Asheville, NC, Knoxville, TN, Memphis, TN, to visit with Carl's son at his motorcycle shop and have BBQ.

We looking forward to meeting lots of AVA members, for lunch, dinner or a ride along. Call or email me @ 415 269 7998, bluemedina@sbcglobal.net

We'd like to put faces to all of the names in the Roster.

No nothing of the kind, just the freezing cold and snow. I do hope to see you at the AVA Rally and then when NorCal returns from the AVA Rally we'll be taking the northern route home

Give me a call if you have time to stop in Phoenix (we met at Kanab).
Really haven't met anyone lately, don't have any numbers of other riders, but if you want to do breakfast or lunch or just have coffee, let me know. I gave you my number in the past, if you need it again, just let me know.
I am going to the other side of Albuquerque this weekend but should be back by Sunday some time (taking the bike over to pickup our pooch from my son's family who watched him while we were in the Philippines).

I'm not too far off the I-40 corridor. I don't know if you'll be stopping around OKC on one of your legs, but I would enjoy seeing you and Trisha again. I have been known to make some decent barbecue, too.

I travel a lot on the I40 (AZ to NM). Looks like I need to go further and see the fruits of Oklahoma. :Cball

I didn't intend to steal Don's thread. But, after traveling through OK in the 110+ heat to get to the Santa Fe rally, it is really hard to get folks to come through here. :wnk2:

Lone Star Voyagers are riding to lunch at Orsak's restaurant "on the square" in Fayetteville, TX on Saturday, Apr 12, 11:30 a.m. Fayetteville (2 syllables; Fate-ville) is 80 miles & 1:30 SE of Austin, just East of LaGrange (on the Chicken Ranch side of town) - generally towards Houston. Be there.

Had a very pleasant evening with Trisha and Don last night (at Los Reyes De La Torta restaurant). Had them all to myself as a another couple had to cancel.
(i will add a picture later).
They were so gracious to put up with my stories and were actually able to interject a few of their own. They actually remembered me from Kanab because of our dog Harley who was there with us (go figure, everyone remembers him over me).
They are heading out this AM to the SE, but I will let them tell that story.
Thanks again for stopping,
Ken
PS. Trisha is such a hugger. I got one right off the bat.

Were here in Austin, and hoping to meet with some Lone Star Voyagers. We can't make the lunch ride tomorrow. But hoping to meet for dinner tonight and today go to the LBJ Library.

Dinner was fun and Ken has great story's. What's fun when traveling is you get to meet AVA members along the route. Last summer we met Chris and Rick from the MO/Kan Voyagers just out side of St. Joes, MO.

We've been to Bisbee and Tombstone. Which I knew how to get there thanks to the Wheels Rolling West, Enchanted Voyagers, ride in back in Nov 2012, hosted by Bob and Dorothy. Then got to visit Prada and Marfa, TX because of Rod President of the Enchanted Voyagers. Last year I came to the Lone Star Voyagers, Hill Country Tour, and on the way home Rod lead me to these places.

Last we spent the night in Del Rio, TX this was thanks to Dave S. leading one of the day rides there last year during the Lone Star Voyagers, Hill Country Tour.

The rest of the weekend we'll be spending with my son Dominic and my Daughter in Law at the racetrack watching the fastest motorcycles in the world.

I do as long as the speed is 65 mph. Those Moto GP bikes were reaching speeds of 210 mph before slowing for a first gear turn. But they don't like traveling long distances without a team of mechanics.

Today, we're in Houston, but while in Austin we had dinner on Friday with Dave S. Richard and Cindy B we ate at Salt Lick BBQ where Rod and I had dinner last year. Lone Star Voyagers were having a lunch ride on Sat. The weather was Texas perfect with plenty of sunshine. But today it's rained so far we've been able to stay out of the weather.
