Clarion Radio Stuck on Headset
Just bought a 1994 XII, went through all your tips and tricks (great by the way), radio didn't work when I bought the bike. The battery was dead and it needed a new battery, in the mean time I was repairing the wiring from an alarm system that was a complete mess (removed all alarm components). I could see on the radio that HS was on on the LCD screen. While I was messing with wires and using a battery charger for testing the radio came on one day (I have no idea why or how) it stayed working the rest of the time, the HS was gone. Volume controls only work on handle bars but who cares everything else seemed to work. Came time to get a battery, headlight relay(NAPA $12.00 Thanks again) and tags. Put it all together plugged in the battery and HS is back on the screen. The button doesn't work, I've pushed it with everything I have and it won't switch back. Is there to reset this or unplug something, anything at all I can do or that missing. My first ride would have been alot better cranking the jams. I will replace the radio when I get the money and time but the old one would be hold me over until then. Thanks for listening.

Re: Clarion Radio Stuck on Headset
Do not pitch the radio it is an easy fix you pull out the radio take off the front cover of the radio there are screws that have came loose from the circut board so the headset button can not make contact

Tried to get the radio out when I had the fairings off but it was screwed to the vent bracket and did not want to come out. I will try again. Thanks

Re: Clarion Radio Stuck on Headset
WOW! Thank You. I emailed Mr. Franchi and he told me the same thing plus sent documents how to get the radio out. It was a job getting it out, and if anyone else does it open the top cover of the radio first and remove the flat cables, but just like you said the screws were loose. Loctite the screws. Works great now!! If I need anything else I'll come here first. Can't thank you enough Randy

Randy, you should make this one of your frequent stops. If not daily at least every few days stop by and read posts. You may be surprised at the wealth of knowledge and information available here.randallar wrote:WOW! Thank You...................Works great now!! If I need anything else I'll come here first. Plus the friendships are outstanding. Our annual rally is in July if you might be interested, in Asheville NC this year. Check out all that the A.V.A. has to offer!

Re: Clarion Radio Stuck on Headset
No confusion here. I'm quite familiar with both of them, by any name. I don't think I have a major ocular problem, but the earlier post from Duane did not have an email tag.
FYI been associated with the AVA since about '97 so, Duane and Bob surely remember me.

Yes, that's why the wording confused me, but re-reading it, it can be interpreted differently, which then makes sense! My error!Bill O wrote:No confusion here. Re: Clarion Radio Stuck on Headset
Ok, I did it. I basically had to take apart the entire front of the bike body to get the radio out so it was more like a 4 hour endeavor from start to finish. But after it was all done, the radio now plays through the front speakers (the rear speakers were removed by the previous owner). There was a screw rattling around in the radio casing that had obviously come loose from the circuit board just behind the HS button that I shook out and screwed back in. Im also very glad I didnt mess up that rubber thingy as I just read your post that said it couldnt be replaced. The radio removal instructions on here were very helpful but I found myself lost once or twice because they must be directions for a newer model (mine is a 1991) but I wouldnt have been able to do it without them, so thanks!
What I did find when I took the bike apart is that there a clips just here and there that go to...nothing. Ill figure those out later- they are probably to the rear speakers and intercom.
