Turning Signal Question

Post by atmusky »

Hello All,

My turning signals stopped working on my 1992 Voyager and I was wondering if anyone new if one blown bulb killed everything or if I should be looking for another problem. I have checked the fuse and looked at all the bulbs and while it is hard to tell if the bulbs are all still good the fuse was fine.

Any thoughts will be appreciated.

Thanks,

One blown bulb won't kill everything. If you have the service manual, you can trace it down on the wiring schematics. Are all your signals not working? or one or two? It should be a simple trace down the culprit situation, but then again, I have replaced a bad wiring harness on a Voyager that had been stored for 8 years in a barn and had mice living in the bike eating wires for breakfast lunch and dinner.

Kevin,

Thanks for the response.

Nothing works at all, I was actually out riding signals where working fine and then just stopped working. Nothing happens at all when I push the switch either way. Thought is might be a fuse but that looks fine (and I swapped it for the spare one).

Any other thoughts?

Thanks,

I found out on my'99, that a broken wire in the harness at the steering head, stopped my turn signals :cry2: Rewiring that harness was part of this past winters service :woohoo:

Turn key to on, turn flasher on and push down on key and wiggle key, if signal flashes key switch contacts are dirty. If that doesn't do it start looking for broken ignition switch wire at bottom of key switch where harness bends when handle bars are turned. If that doesn't find it then go to large white connector under left side fairing look for corroded connector. mike
