This past Thanksgiving I had the opportunity to ride to Daytona Beach to spend time with family and ride the roads where my motorcycling addiction first came to fruition. The roads are not much to speak of, but the scenery is awesome.
I started in Fort Walton Beach where I was working and took mostly scenic back roads across the state.
I was amazed to see a Voyager 1700 on this back road. I have probably only seen a handful of Voyager 1700s during my travels.
You can see how the scenery changes as I travel from west to east. Moss on the trees is cool or creepy depending on when and where you see it.
The typical traffic I saw on my ride.
I rode over 400 miles to get there in time for dinner.

Re: Thanksgiving Ride to Daytona Beach
Thanksgiving morning I had the opportunity to ride some of the local roads and reminisce about my rides from 30 something years ago.
Passing by the Daytona Speedway.
I remember watching Daytona 200 practice sessions. Kenny Roberts and Yamaha were on my T-shirts and I was riding an XS750 triple.
There have been some changes over the past 30 years. Definitely no Indian Dealer back then.
and many things just as I remember them. Riding along Beach Street was always a pleasure.
A1A north of Ormond Beach was pretty much as I remembered it as well.
and along the intercostal waterway

Re: Thanksgiving Ride to Daytona Beach
Friday I had the opportunity to meet up with Carl Leo, visit, and take a ride around "The Loop". I don't know if we called it "The Loop" when I was 19, but it was a favorite place to ride and rent canoes.
The canopy over the road was pretty much how I remembered it so that didn't change much in 30 years. There were a few more houses than back then though.
It was great to see Carl and to get to actually ride with him. He is always working on bikes at the Rallies, and playing host at the Ride to Ripley gatherings.
