I am going to change the coolant in my voyager tomorrow, I also want to flush the system. I was told I could use white vinegar, like the kind you clean a coffee pot with and distilled water . Can I use vinegar or should I use a regular product just for flushing systems?
Thank for any advice, lockwoodjohn
John, the vinegar may work but what I did was drain and flush with distilled water (ran till hot). Then added Prestone Flush, ran temp up and drained, added distilled water ran hot and drained. Then added distilled water again once more due to coloring. Then when it ran out fairly clean I drained and added the pre-mix.
Be certain to bleed any air out of the system using the bleeder on the water-pump.

Thank you for your reply. I looked at PO's maint log I got with the bike and I do not see where he ever had the system flushed and coolant changed . Voyager has almost 87,000 on it . His log goes back to his first maint. At 2,000 miles. I noticed on a hot day in traffic temp gauge is a little higher then where it normally runs and fan kicks on more, No where close to red zone,But cause for a little concern.
