LED Light conversion
Does anybody have a complete list of bulbs needed to do a conversion to LEDs?
I know the 1157 (brake) and the 1156 (turn signals) bulbs as well as the 196 (marker lights).. any others? And how many of each does one need?
Do any of the LED bulbs need to be the "stubby" ones (shorter)?

Re: LED Light conversion
I don't have that info for you cause I havn't done it to the XII ...however I did it to my son Brad's ZRX 1100 (turn sigs) ...and the LED 's made the lights blink at "double time"
snooped around on-line a bit ...and read up on it .... found these pieces to correct the fast flashing. links:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Universal-Hyper ... CMake%3AKa" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Seems, every time ya change something away from "stock" it requires more than expected. !................................Tony

Thanks for the link to the list!
Seen a few things might have changed bulb number wise.
Seems the 1034 (front turn) is the same as the 1157.
The 168 (front side) is the same as the 194.
The 67 (license plate bulbs) i havent even found in LED yet.

Re: LED Light conversion
A 168 incandescent bulb is higher wattage than the 194. Be careful.. Higher wattage=higher temperaturebroksonic wrote:Barry (WA State) wrote:A quick search on this forum will provide the info you're looking for.

Also for the turn signals, do NOT bother with load resistors as this will NOT save power .. Replaced the turn signal relay with an EP34 relay from Autozone and do away with load resistors if you are looking to save power.

Re: LED Light conversion
I havent found anything with just the 168 in LED. Everything refers to 168/194 in LED at least on E-bay.suzib6sw wrote:A 168 incandescent bulb is higher wattage than the 194. Be careful.. I was going with the signal relay just for that reason, to save power. I plan on adding a "few" more lights (LED strip lights) so i want to save as much power as possible.
Still havent found any LED cross over for the 67 bulb on the license plate lights though. Might just have to use a couple of small sections of clear LED strip lights and design my own.
Just added these today.. 18watt
$19.94 if anyone else is interested..

Let me know how bright they are when you hook them up. I would like to put them on my bike mostly to be seen.

Didn't get a picture of them tonight when i put them on.. but they are bright!Mr Jensee wrote:Let me know how bright they are when you hook them up. I would like to put them on my bike mostly to be seen.
I might have to pull them down a bit. I will try to remember to get a shot of them and put it up.
I had a set of older lights on it before, at idle my volt meter was reading around 11 volts.. didnt go up much with more throttle either...(those lights were hogs).. these run about 12.8 volts on idle, with a bit of throttle it will jump to almost 14 volts.
Now i'm going to have to change the headlight. These are a nice white light, the headlight looks dim and yellow now!

Havent gotten to superbrightleds.com yet. I mainly use E-bay to keep track of what im looking for (their watch list is handy for tracking my "wants list"), then i go to different sites to check best price and quality.
Most likely will start my ordering Sunday or Monday, have a auction to hit Saturday with M/C stuff from a private repair guy. Calling for snow/freezing rain/rain too, so with any luck will keep some of the people away so i can get some goood prices!

Re: LED Light conversion
Anybody have a view on the Xenon bulb vs LED bulb for a headlight replacement?
Been reading up on both.. of course they both say they are "better" than the other...
Anyone using one or the other (or maybe tried both) have an opinion?

Im using this one here http://www.amazon.com/Motorcycle-Motorb ... SN2XC1BJ63" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Its an LED H4 bulb. The only issue is that it wont stay on low beam and triggers the built in "bulb out" relay that automatically switches it to high beam because the power draw is to low. My way around that was to simply turn the aim of the headlight down lower at night. I simply dont do alot of nighttime driving as here in the summer its light out till well past 10:30pm and now when it is getting darker at 5pm its too cold to ride.

When you got the bulb did it happen to say what the lumen is? Didn't see it in the listing.Tonyvdb wrote:Im using this one here http://www.amazon.com/Motorcycle-Motorb ... SN2XC1BJ63" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Thinking of going with a 8000LM bulb. Anything else starts getting that blue look.

Thats the color temp of the bulb your talking about and 8000 is way to blue. You want to stay at 5000-6000maxbroksonic wrote:

As far as brightness the one I have is much brighter than the stock halogen bulb that came with the Voyager.

Re: LED Light conversion
Your right on the LM.. the one i like so far is a 6000k bulb with 30watts. It says "Wide-range voltage, constant current control,anti-interference circuit design", hope the "constant current control" will fix the "bulb out" relay problem you are having.Tonyvdb wrote:Thats the color temp of the bulb your talking about and 8000 is way to blue. I hope I'm wrong but everything I've read tells me if you have a "controlled voltage" high enough to keep the " bulb out " light from coming on you are defeating the purpose of going to LED's.It says "Wide-range voltage, constant current control,anti-interference circuit design", hope the "constant current control" will fix the "bulb out" relay problem you are having.

Re: LED Light conversion
Correct. Most bulb out warnings use the resistance as the trigger. If you still have resistance, you only get 1/2 the equation...a brighter light with the same amp draw.
When I do this mod, I'll just wire around that device and create a standard headlight circuit, and add a simple white & blue indicator bulb that feeds off the low or high circuit, like on old bikes.
