Shinko Tires?
Has anyone have any experience with these tires? I am looking at the 230 Tour Master tires, I wrote the company for specs, and they are rated for heavy loads and speeds.
Any experience with the brand would be helpful. Thanks

Re: Shinko Tires?
Do a search on Shinko on this board, and you will get several listings on the subject.

Re: Shinko Tires?
Just mounted up the rear shinko 230 tour master last week on one of my voyagers. Too early to tell about results but a lot of my Eliminator buddies are running them and really like 'em. Only bad thing I have read and experienced myself is balancing them. Mine took 3.5 ounces of weight. But hey, it rides nice now. Now for getting to mounting the other one that I bought for the rear of one of my Eliminators.

Re: Shinko Tires?
Well I have had my Shinko's mounted for about 500 miles now, and I must say I have no complaints.
Very quiet, smooth and they grip very well.
90% of my riding is 2 up.
We'll see how many miles they can rack up this summer

Re: Shinko Tires?
Furchin, you mention the weight for balancing the tires... have you or anyone ever tried those bead things you put inside the tire to balance it? Does it work? it doesn't seem all that expensive around $20 per tire if it works.
If it is worth having, it is worth taking care of...

I myself have not used the beads. Have heard pro & con concerning their useage. some good, some bad.tregal16 wrote:Furchin, you mention the weight for balancing the tires... have you or anyone ever tried those bead things you put inside the tire to balance it? Re: Shinko Tires?
I just ordered a set of Shinko tires for my KLR 650. Under $100 for a pair.
I would look at Ride-on instead of the beads since it also helps prevent flat tires.

Depends on where in central PA. I am in south western PA, but have family in south central PA (Harrisburg area). I have been known to jump on the bike on a Sunday and do a few hour ...Let me know where you are, maybe we could meet up some Sunday.

Re: Shinko Tires?
After reading all the posts on Shinko tires I thought I would chime in. I purchased a set of Shinko 777's for my 2003 Voyager back in July. I replaced the back tire first and a week later replaced the front tire. I had Ride-On balancer/sealant put in both tires and with just a new rear tire everything was fine. I put the new front tire on there and at 65 mph the front tire bounced like a basket ball. I called up Bike Bandit and told them what was going on and they said it was a balance problem. I put more Ride-On in the tire bringing it up to the max recommended and it settled down a little but was bouncing all over at 75 mph. I pulled the tire off and took it back to have it balanced the conventional way. It required 2 ounces of weights to get it balanced but now is smooth as glass. Had I read the posts before I bought these tires I would have coughed up a few extra bucks and bought the Dunlop E3's. They will be my next tire purchase.
