Moly in the rear drive?

Moly in the rear drive?
Does anyone use a moly additive in their rear drive? It is recommended in my Guzzis where I have used it for many years. I can't see a problem adding a little to the the rear drive on the Voyager. The rear drive's small capacity is the only thing giving me pause. Any thoughts or prior experience is welcome.

I just use 90 wt synthetic gear lube in my rear drive, never had a problem, I don't think graphite is necessary. Be sure you don't have the fill level above 1/4" below the fill hole though.

The maintenance manual states around 18,000 miles for final gear oil change. There is really no reason to change it any earlier than that in my opinion. I usually change mine around 20,000 miles. How often do you change it in your car or truck? They use the same oil.

I change at around 40 to 50K miles. Manual says 30,000KM, Change more often on higher mileage machines, Check every 10,000mi for level, smell and clarity. Use a good quality lube. Make sure you have a vent hole on the inside of rear end at top. Do not over fill, 1/4" to 3/8" from fill plug thread to oil level. Never had a problem, knock on wood!!!

Well, actually, filling the final drive to 1/4" below what's recommended in the manual is a very well documented trade secret when servicing the Voyager XII. There are many people that have filled their machine to the "proper" level and had a leak afterwards due to the increased pressure from within the final drive when hot. Filling the unit to 1/4" below the fill plug threads, usually takes care of the problem.

Especially if you are towing a trailer, or running at max or over the weight rating for the bike and doing high speed with hills. Peeled the paint on the pumkin on a truck one time pulling a heavy load up hill at interstate speeds.

Thanks guys, I have no doubt that your recommendations are completely sufficient, but it has been a spring ritual for me to change all fluids in all my bikes for 28 years now. I am sure the moly is overkill too, but I doubt it will hurt anything.
