Every so often, I read where someone looses their saddlebag lids

, usually resulting in at least some nasty scratches, or the destruction of the lid. Needless to say, like most everything motorcycle anymore, these lids are anything but cheap to replace (about $700 each the last I heard

). So, an obvious tip in helping to keep these lids on your bag, and off the road, is to lock the latches (both) before and during any riding you do. Otherwise, the lid latches have the habit of sometimes popping open when you hit a large or even small bump on the road, and your lid goes sailing down the highway much to your dismay. Many have also attached their lids to the saddlebags by various methods usually using a thin cable or other tie material. This is a fairly well known trick for veteran Voyager riders, but may be unknown to the newer owners.
