Brake pads

Post by DaveMac »

Hi all,
iam going to need brake pads this summer. I see a lot on Ebay and the net. :hmm:
What is the best pad for this bike? As this is my first brake job, Iam not an aggressive driver but I don’t slouch ether. Just wondering what everyone is using. Is it like a car? Should I turn the rotors? (Can you have the rotors turned?) The bike has fewer than 40K. And is there anything I should look at specifically?

I like EBC brake pads, for all of the information you're asking call Carl Leo. I have used the EBC for most of the miles I have on my Voyager 1200. I just installed a set of the FA85HH, most Voyager riders don't like the HH cause the wear brake rotors almost as fast as the brake pads wear. The FA85 work fine and cost less $34.00 vs $38.00 per set.

Basically, you can't turn the rotors. I know I have heard of people having them done, but I don't see the need. Put pads on if they are worn and keep on riding. If you end up with a warped rotor, just replace it. FA85 is what I use. No complaints.

It appears the FA85 fits both the front and rear brakes. Correct?
