Tape doors. I bought the last one 2 weeks ago.
No tape door hinge shafts left.. No tiny, tiny circlips that hold the shaft in place.. I do have a couple of "reclaimed" hinge shafts.
Regarding the tape doors.. The plastic hinge breaks nearly always on the right side. Im trying to work out something to make as a work around and I may have to resort to epoxy resin dyed black , dobbed on and then dremmeled away to re-create the hinge. UV and weathering makes the plastic brittle.
Tape Belts.. I have just bought the last 7 sets. While there are other belts that can fit, these are the proper ones.
LCD displays... there are less than 10 left.. I bought 6 the other day.. I'll try and get the others.. Once these go, then its displays from donor radios as they become available.
No buttons or knobs left. I have controls but these rarely give any grief.
I may have , with Clarions help, located a limited (less than 20) complete "nose- pieces" for the Radios.. I have ordered a couple just to see exactly what they consist of and Im hoping that they are exactly that.. Complete, knobs, buttons, LCD board, tape door the works..
These are not at all cheap so I'll check what they are and get as many as they will allow.
I suspect Clarion will not allow me to buy them all out just in case one of their bosses "need one for a client"
CB units.. The ONLY thing available is the escutcheon you see on the left inner fairing.. No Lens, glass, buttons, nothing..just the plastic.
AS an FYI, The Main Transceiver under the left fairing is the same as the one for the Suzuki Cavalcade BUT the wiring is different.. I can rewire I think.. BUT you wont find the Control unit very easily at all..
I have been pouring over the diagrams and did notice something interesting but cant see exactly what /why its there..
When you are playing the tape, pressing preset number 3, throws a relay in the radio.. No change to sound on the headset but it may affect the speakers .. At first I thought it was an undocumented Dolby switch as its part of that circuit but no..
So the upshot of all this folks is, if you have a radio or cb that needs some attention, nows the time..
This is more of a timely reminder than a plug or thats the intention so apologies if it comes across any differently.
I do wish to express my sincere thanks to my contact at Clarion.. I have never, in 25 years of being in the computer/repair business, met anyone so willing, courteous and professional as he is or as they are as a company to help a totally discontinued product remain alive as long as possible.

Cheers..
Pete
