Has anybody ever tried using a high concentration of Lime-Away and water in the cooling system to clean it out? I have used it mixed 50/50 in a radiator only before, and it does a great job of getting out all that calcium buildup that clogs up the tubes. I just let it sit all night, then did a power flush. Looked like new inside, with no leaks.
My concern in our engines (at least on the ZN1300 engines) is that little mechanical seal between the water pump and the crankcase. It is partially ceramic, and LimeAway will eat some softer ceramics.
Cooling system clean-out?
