Greetings from Nebraska,
Well I finally got my 2001 running after it had sat for 8 years and on my first time out of the garage, I noticed that my clutch slipped a little in 5th gear if I jumped on it a little. I was going to change the clutch and brake fluid anyway so I did that and now there is no resistance at all when I squeeze the clutch lever. I have bled the line over and over until the fluid was clear according to the manual and it is still very mushy (not firm) when I pull in the clutch lever. I wonder if someone might have another idea what to check next. My 1200 only has 8800 miles on it but the fluid was very brown and I think the smaller of the two holes at the bottom of the reservoir was plugged but I pushed a small gauge wire into it and it seems good now.
Many thanks,
Dan

Re: clutch slipping
You may need to remove & clean the clutch slave cylinder ( The round looking item that the bleeder is attached to ( 2 bolts) . Also the master cylinder at the clutch lever may be gunked up and need to be rebuilt.

Re: clutch slipping
After removing the assembly at the bottom with the piston that pushes the clutch in, I discovered that is was so gummed up that the spring could hardly push it back to original position. After a good cleaning, it works great.
