Speedometer Error fix

Take a 1/16 drill bit run slowly down the center of
the roll pin drill all the way through. then you have a center
point to drill back toward the roll pin from back side
using a 9/64 drill bit .
after disassembly and cleaned and new gears in put anti seize
on shoulder of pinion housing . put roll pin back in used a little
black sealant on both ends of roll pin to keep sealed from water.

don't know if this will help anybody that still has to change the gears
in the head yet .

my speedometer was off 10 mph
bought 24t gear was all I could find
now its only off 5 mph . I did find a 23t
gear when I get it installed . speedometer
should be right on . hope this helps depending
how far off your speed is. as to gear you need

If it works for you hooray! But FWIW, all my Voyager ZG1200 experience has yielded a speedo that shows at least 10% (15% on one of them) faster than the bike is actually going BUT the odometers (distance traveled) were spot on. So, I left 'em alone, not wanting to chance screwing up the odo in order to have a righteous speedo.

My speedo is a 3-4 mph off when comparing to the gps. That's fine with me. Probably saved a lot of us from getting tickets!

used my gps to compare to speedometer.
had five miles of flat road . going to do it again
after new gear shows up . hope its closer to right

my results. got my new 23 tooth gear.
installed ran it with my Gps all lower speeds
are right on. as you go higher the speed is off.
55 is 54 60 is 59 etc. so if your speed is off by
5 mph you need 24 tooth gear if off by 10 mph you
need 23 tooth gear. this is want I had to do for mine .
another bike might be different . hope this helps .

today rode bike to work 50 miles each way.
worked great kept up with traffic ok speed was good .
even had a state trouper behind me . has to be ok
or he would have stopped me.

cops had radar set up . so I must still be right
for my speed . rode by them with no problems .

1996 ZX600 has the same drive as the Voyager but with the 23 T gear.

Yesterday the wife and I rode to work (she on her 97 Vulcan 800), then on to a movie at 4pm and home at 6:30pm. Temps were:
65F
82F
75F
Ears got a little cool at 65F (half helmet), but otherwise very pleasant riding day.

Thanks very much for posting this. Just rebuilt a used speedo gear with the 23t gear. Finally have an accurate speedometer.

Wait....what?? Are you saying that all these speedo hubs listed will work as-is on out XII's, or just that they have 23t gears in them? If the possibility exists that one of these listed speedo hubs can just be swapped-out with ours, I'm all-in for that one! MUCH less work for the mechanic!
