fuel and air filters
I know I've seen this but darned if I can find it. "I'm really computer challenged". Are there conversion numbers for a compatible fuel filter that I may pick up at an Autozone? Is there one for the air filter as well? I'm having trouble finding these two items around my place. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Re: fuel and air filters
I have found that the best bang for the buck is to use the John Deere fuel filter John Deere - Part #AM116304 which fits without any modification and only costs around $6.

Re: fuel and air filters
That is what I use. Fram, from what i hear, isn't the same quality of filter it used to be. I use the K&N filter for oil (K&N # KN401 $9.99 at Cycle Gear, 06/2014 - includes required o-rings $11 at Amazon(Aug'15)) and the cleanable one for air. I would have to look that one up (from a chevy it think), but I have K&N air filters on my Dodge Cummins, my wife's Vn800a Vulcan and my '03 Voyager. I clean them twice a year unless I go thru an unusually dust event or roads (i try to avoid the dusty dirt roads down here in Arizona). You have to save the plastic frame from the old air filter and then adapt (trim) the Fram or the K&N to fit.Mr Jensee wrote:I have found that the best bang for the buck is to use the John Deere fuel filter John Deere - Part #AM116304 which fits without any modification and only costs around $6.
Enjoy

Re: fuel and air filters
I picked up the air filter for the 87 Camaro but it is to small. Are you guys breaking them apart and inserting the Camaro filter element into the housing of the OEM filter?

Re: fuel and air filters
you must trim about 1/8 inch off width and length and then you must take the original equipment filter and gut it so you have just the plastic frame.krasmu wrote:I picked up the air filter for the 87 Camaro but it is to small. Then you must insert the Camaro Filter into the frame and silicone it in place.

Re: fuel and air filters
Didn't take long to figure out how to cut things down and make this work. Thank for the replies.
