Old Guys Rule (more like Roll)!

Post by Scott-(Altoona, PA) »

If my math is right GrandpaDenny will be having rotator cuff surgery on Feb 11th.
Well I too will be under the knife on the 11th, mine will be to have my entire right kidney removed. πŸ«₯ 😯 Thru incidental findings a large mass was discovered on that kidney just a few weeks ago. My oncologist (hate saying that) determined the due to size and cancer concerns (so far seems contained) that it should come out. On Thursday it was getting scheduled for March but late yesterday I was informed that it was in 4 days, Feb 11th.
I won't be much fun for Valentine's Day, I hope Beth don't mind !
Happy Valentine's Day ❀️

What happened Nails, did it get stuck somewhere it shouldn't have? :gig:
We've got a son-in-law with nasal issues but he won't get it looked at or fixed. At times he sounds like an old bulldog!

Thanks guys, I'm sure Denny feels the same and I hope he gets fixed up so riding can be his therapy!

These days it's been bent out of shape a few too many times.

Truth be told, I have two other minor surgeries on deck. I have to recommend the VA -- heard of that outfit?

My convalescent recliner is all set up. This is so Deanna can get some sleep, plus she won't have far to step-n-fetch a beer to me. (I had a tiny bell on a table next to the chair, but it's already gone missing.) She'll head back to CA on Saturday, whether I'm crawling to the fridge or not.

Personally, I think you guys should pick simpler operations. No complicated joints. No guts-n-stuff.

It'll be nice to sleep on a flat bed again. I might need the recliner just one night, this time around.

Denny sorry for the pain waking you. For me the pain is/was each time trying to get into bed. With 7 holes in my abdominal area basically any movement hurts somewhat but getting into bed felt like I was tearing muscle tissue. And with only 1 kidney now, I pee alot. Eventually my body will grow to adjust but for now it's annoying πŸ˜‘
Hang in there Denny. Find a good book or older motorcycle magazines to read between naps!
Same can work for you too Loren. I'm sure you've got one or two laying around somewhere.

I suspect that a nerve block wore off. Mine took about 30 hrs.
GrandpaDenny wrote: ↑Thu Feb 13, 2025 7:45 am took some Motrin. I'm tring not t o take the narcotic stuff matter of fact haven't picked it up from CVS yet.
With all due respect, that's kinda stupid. Take the dang pain meds. I only needed the narcs a little more than a day. Not nearly as hard on you as watching Boss Hog. I used about 600mg Ibu for a couple more days and tapered to nada. YMMV

I got my nose reamed. It's been a bloody mess and pretty painful. I hate Oxy most of all, but that's what I got. I pounded them straight through the night, then spread a couple more over the next day. Now I'm dialed back to OTC Ibu doses. It feels like rubbing on a raw wound, which it is. My nose is packed with some stuff to keep the wounds from growing together; and that should dissolve in a few days. In the meantime, I'm getting cottonmouth.

Too much fun.

That's what I'm looking forward to: bilateral hernias and excising a tumor in my pancreas. The hernias are small and years old already, but they've kept me out of the gym since June. The tumor isn't likely malignant, and I've apparently had it for decades. Lately, it goes nuts secreting insulin, which periodically makes me hypoglycemic and stupid.

That's my story and I'm sticking with it.

Yeah, the sling sucks. And I don't want to cause you to break a dress code or anything, but this is why they make sweat pants.

You're not supposed to be going outside and working anyway.
