Diamond Seat

Post by raynchk »

My Diamond seat arrived yesterday after almost a month's wait. I haven't put it on yet, so I can't give a full review, but first impressions are good:
  • Construction is good, the seat is well made
Driver's saddle is bigger so should be more supportive
Driver's saddle may give more leg room
Vinyl is better quality than that on original seat
foam on drivers saddle is denser than original seat
Ordering process was simple, Mark really knows his business

I decided to just order the seat and not the back rest. I have a Markland backrest that came off my 91 that is still in good shape and is pretty comfortable. Mark told me he would make the seat so it would allow me to use the back rest, and that the Markland was a good product, costing about $400 when new.

I'll report back when I get it installed and have some miles of "butt on" experience

I've got a couple of hundred miles on the seat right now and its a lot more comfortable than the stock seat. On the old stock seat, there was a weird pain I would sometimes get in my hip-joints when I'd first get on, sorta like they were ready to pop out of joint... that's completely gone. I'm sitting a little higher which gives me more leg room and I can stretch out on the highway pegs.

My back rest fits, but it has to be worked into place, the big seat area and foam make it difficult to put on. It also wrinkles the foam and and vinyl a little but Mark tells me that the foam will adapt. I'm just going to use it on long trips so its off for now.

Sheepskin pads don't fit as well as on the other seat, but they work fine.

I'm pleased with the seat.
