A buddy has an 1100 Wing. Someone suggested to him that he strip it down, "because they're amazingly fast when you take all of that Tupperware off!" Eeewww!... They may be amazingly fast, but if that is what I wanted, I would buy a rocket, to begin with! I want to know that the suspension is built for flying low, so the whole can handle it without issues popping up suddenly -- at warp speed!
:oh:

I must be blind. I don't see anything attractive in that bike, but fortunately, it is our differences that make this world a fun and interesting place to live. Cheers!

That's ALWAYS the first thing I think about.

We found a parts bike here in Florida out in the panhandle. The guy wanted $1500 for it on Craigslist. After talking to him and finding out the bike had been sitting for 2 years, I asked him just how flexible the price was, then rattled off all the issues that would need to be addressed just because the bike had been parked for so long. We ended up getting a '92 Voyager XII with 40k on the clock for $550, and to sweeten the deal, HE had owned a parts bike previously, and had extra saddle bags, and other assorted goodies that he threw in just to get them out of his garage.

The parts bike was a color match for mine, so I have a complete set of plastic, albeit not in as good condition as mine, but if I need something, I can get it painted. We've already disassembled it for the most part, and have taken advantage of some components for my bike as well as a buddy of mine who also owns a XII.

I continue to hunt for another one just to have even more stuff to work with.

Just went to get the title and the first look in person, the pic does not do it justice, in the pic it is ugly, in person it is BUTT UGLY. :gig: got it for $100.00 and just a quick look at it it has a C.B. Drivers boards, engine is undamaged and should run, carbs, alt. radio, ingiter and its a 89 so the good one. rear drive unit is all there but apart for some reason. Now, while I was there I see a complete 01 with sagged out springs and a missing saddle bag lid. Got to talking to the guy and told him to tell the owner I would give him $1500.00 for it. He said he would tell him and thinks he would take it. It needs progressives and a oil change (was leaking in the normal place from too much oil) and a little wax to turn around. Keep your fingers crossed for me on that one.

Got the poor ole girl home now, and once again Carl is right. It is UUGGLLLYYYYY. lol All the tupperware is trashed, forks are bent back a touch but I can polish the lower tubes and sell that part of them no problem, Drivers floorboards are good, clean them up and offer em out. Engine is undamaged and I will get it started before I pull it out to check, see no problems there. Looks like she went down on her left side and the Rad. is bent but not leaking (but it's junk) to test fire the bike. The brake rotors are in better shape than the ones on my 88 so you know where they will go. I'm sending the C.B. to Pete to check out, the face of it didn't fair well in it's tumble. Hopefully he can fix or replace it and it will go on my 88. Carbs will go to Carl for rebuild and saved for down the road, will test Alt. and either offer it up our have another spare. Ingiter, highest bidder. lol, Radio and Amp will go to Pete just because I kinda like him. lol (maybe a little break on the C.B. stuff) lol Anybody need something I would much rather help my Family here out before E-Bay. Heck, I already made my money back on the brake rotors for my 88.
Image
Now on to the 01, took a close look at it and she need some TLC, the front end acts like it don't even have springs in it at all, matter of fact i'm thinking it don't. I started it and it fired right up but, was missing on 1 cyl unless I keep it on full choke, But as stated above, will have a spare set of carbs. Radio lights up but don't work (bad fuse behind headlight?) Someone rattle canned the trunk top with spray paint (I have a GREAT painter) and the right bag lid is gone. Tires ok but I don't want to ride on them. The brake rotors are shot but the ones I take off the 88 will fix that. I'm thinking $1500.00 is about right but will try to work him down by picking it apart with him. It only has 54k on the clock.

and the windshield looks like someone cleaned it with a Brillo Pad. :dm:
We will see what happens tomorrow with that one.

So, I'm guessing you decided to fuel your passion for the XII to distract you from getting a Victory or Vulcan Voyager?

You could turn that bobber into a version of the new Honda F6B. LOL!

Well. we made the deal for my price of $1500.00, down from his price of $1900.00 and I'm picking the 01 up during the week, so I'm now the proud owner of 3 XII's, well 2 and what ever that first thing is, :gig: A 88,89 and 01, now I just got to remember that the 01 is for getting back in shape and reselling and not name it and let it be a part of the family like my 88 :bat: and to stay on the budget of $500.00 I set for my self for the repairs. Wish me luck.
