Goo melting out of windshield
Parked my 96 for a couple weeks after a particularly hot couple weeks here in jersey and when i took the cover off today i find this goop running all down the side of my bike. Is this just a bad repair from prior owner or is this a known problem?

Re: Goo melting out of windshield
I’ve never actually seen a voyager windshield with trim around the edge, I would presume it’s whatever glue is holding the trim on that is caused that issue. Maybe try something like mineral spirits that won’t damage the windshield itself to clean it up?

Re: Goo melting out of windshield
I've seen this before. I believe it is the foam tape's glue partly melting with both age and heat. The trim is secured around the plastic windshield's edge, using double-sided foam tape.
Most Voyagers do not have any trim around the edges of the windshield. If the trim is coming loose, or off, it may be necessary to remove it, then clean it up with something like Goof-Off solvent/cleaner, if turpentine/mineral spirits does not do the job.
You can search the Internet for black, double-sided, foam tape, if you want to re-install the trim. It will be a lot of fiddly work, with a learning curve.
You could also fill the trim with clear silicone, using a caulking gun. After you press it around the edge of the windshield, you will need to wipe away the excess silicone that oozes out, to avoid making a mess on the edges -- this should last 20 years. Up to you. I wish you the best of luck. Cheers!
